It’s September 3rd, and today I have released a compilation called “An Introduction To Marc With a C”. It’s a 14-song “digital starter kit” to my embarrassingly large catalog of songs. You voted on which songs would be included, and it’s a good thing, because this is an interactive compilation!
Said interactive compilation is available here: http://marcwithac.bandcamp.com/album/an-introduction-to-marc-with-a-c
Wait, you don’t understand? Okay, here’s how it works: I need your help. Don’t worry, you don’t have to part with any money, because this compilation is out on a pay-what-you-want basis. It’s very simple, actually. What I’d like you to do is pick a friend that might enjoy the songs. Maybe it’s someone that likes lo-fi music, or perhaps they’re the person that always yells “PLAY FREEBIRD” at concerts, or they’ve got a thing for Star Wars action figures, a “girls with glasses” fetish… any reason that you can find to share it with them is a good one. And when you’ve designated that person? Send them a link to this album, tell ‘em it might be up their alley, and have them download this 40-minute compendium of your favorite songs that I’ve made up.
"But Marc, I don’t have any friends that I actually know that well. I just have a circle of people that I reblog Doctor Who GIF’s for on Tumblr", you say? Well, that’s fine! Just reblog it for them!
"But Marc, I only use the internet to troll people on Reddit", you exclaim? Great! That place helps things "go viral". These songs are perfect "go viral" material. (I don’t really care about "going viral" per se, I just want as many people as possible to have the chance to hear the songs that I make up).
"B-b-b-but Marc, I already have all of your songs because I’m super obsessed with chubby dudes that make up tunes so there’s really nothing in it for me" you retort? Fiiiine, I’ve included a hidden bonus recording that you probably won’t have.
"Marc. why would you do this? Seems silly, you already have compilations available", you might pontificate? Okay, truth be told, now that Bandcamp reports their downloads to SoundScan/Billboard, if every one of you download this album this week *and* get a friend to do the same? There’s a chance that this release might actually chart. And if the album charts, not only will it be a super cool badge of honor for yours truly, but it’ll be easier to get booked, even more people will be inclined to check out my songs, and YOU will have been part of it (and hey, maybe other musicians will stop trying to lay claim to Marc With a C as a stage name!). So honestly, every single one of you matters in making this happen. No one is exempt.
So, are you down? Do you want to turn your friends on to some catchy songs that they might like? Do you want to help some silly tunes about squids eek their way onto the Billboard charts? Then it’s this simple: download a copy of “An Introduction To Marc With a C” ASAP, tell a friend about it, and if you’re extra nice, post about it! You’ll be a tastemaker for all of your buddies, and you’ll help to show the world that the DIY artist refuses to die.
(For those dying for a physical copy, there will be a small amount pressed. You’ll be able to buy it “at cost” at shows, and it’ll be included as a freebie with any physical orders from marcwithac.com until supplies run out)
